One of those moments that reminded me why storytelling matters
This is a subtitle for your new post
Every so often, something happens that quietly stops you in your tracks.
Not because it is loud or dramatic, but because it reminds you exactly why you love what you do.
I had one of those moments recently.
I am working as a consultant with Activity Alliance, a national sports disability charity, supporting their digital presence across strategy, content and storytelling. Every week, we catch up to talk through ideas, progress and the impact of the work happening behind the scenes.
Telling a story that mattered
I was asked to write a case study about Norman, one of the charity’s lived experience network members, and the difference being part of that community had made to him.
On paper, it was a case study.
In reality, it was something much more human.
Norman’s story shares how lived experience can shape a more inclusive future. It highlights the importance of creating spaces where disabled people are listened to, valued and involved in influencing change.
As I worked through his story, it became clear that this was not simply about writing words for a website. It was about helping readers understand impact through lived experience.
Stories like Norman’s matter because they make something bigger feel personal.

The feedback that meant the most
Then came one of those lovely, unexpected moments.
The team shared that they loved the piece so much it had been circulated across the organisation, encouraging colleagues to grab a coffee and have a read.
Honestly, that felt really special.
Not because someone said “good job”, but because the story connected. It sparked curiosity, reflection and conversation.
And that is what good storytelling should do.
Great storytelling helps people feel something
A strong case study is never just about facts.
Yes, it can showcase outcomes and evidence impact. But the magic happens when people feel connected to the story.
Whether you are a charity, small business or organisation, stories help people understand why your work matters.
A good case study can:
- build trust and credibility
- help people understand impact through real experiences
- bring services or outcomes to life
- create emotional connection with your audience
- turn information into something memorable
Because people remember stories far longer than statistics.
Why this work matters to me
This project reminded me that clear, human storytelling really matters.
It matters because behind every organisation are real people. Real experiences. Real moments of growth, challenge and change.
Helping bring those stories to life is genuinely one of my favourite parts of what I do.
Got a story that deserves to be told?
If you have a client success story, lived experience piece, case study or impact story sitting in your head, or hidden in notes somewhere, I would love to help bring it to life.
Because sometimes the most powerful stories are the ones people have not heard yet.
